Crime
Crimes and robberies
In GunMaffia you earn your first money on the street. Small crimes, bigger robberies and jobs in the criminal underworld build up your experience, and experience decides how far you get.
Crimes: from pickpocketing to a cyber heist
Every player starts with ordinary crimes. The list builds up from pickpocketing and purse snatching, through stealing a scooter and breaking into a jeweler, to blowing a vault door, raiding a cargo ship and a digital heist. The more experience you have, the better your chances with the heavier jobs.
A successful crime earns money and experience. If it goes wrong, you take damage or end up in jail. How hard the police are looking in your city plays a part. After every attempt you wait a moment before you can try again, so you keep choosing the crime that suits you best right now.
Robberies with more at stake
A robbery is bigger and riskier than a crime. You pick your target: a late-night store, an ATM, an antique dealer, a payroll office, a goldsmith or a cartel safehouse. Some targets only exist in certain cities.
Not every robbery pays in cash. A drug raid brings home batches of drugs that you then sell yourself. That is how crime and trade feed into each other in GunMaffia.
Local robberies and the cash transport
Every city has its own big job: the casino vault, an oil platform, an opium field or an arms convoy. You cannot repeat that local robbery endlessly, so traveling pays off.
For a cash-in-transit robbery you plan the job yourself. You pick your helpers, the timing and the getaway car from your own garage. A good car makes a real difference here.
Organized crime: a crew of three
The biggest jobs need other players. In organized crime three players work together, each with a role: the leader puts up the money, the weapons expert supplies a weapon and the driver brings a car.
If the job succeeds, the take is split. If it fails, everyone pays the price. You can only start a limited number of times per round, so choose your crew carefully.
Jobs: the quieter money
If you want less risk, take a job in the criminal underworld. Think of neighborhood protection, a loan shark's office, a laundromat that launders money, a harbor crane or skimming a nightclub's takings.
Jobs earn money and experience and are a good addition to your crimes, especially early on. They are not entirely without risk: things can go wrong here too.
Frequently asked questions
Can I die during a crime?
Yes. A failed action can cost you health, and if you take too much damage you can die. In the hospital you recover from your injuries.
How do I get out of jail?
You serve your time, try to escape, or someone bails you out. That can be another player or you yourself.
Do I need other players?
Not for crimes, robberies and jobs. For organized crime you team up with two other players.
